Design beam and support slab in his bottom

Hi,

 

i´m designing a beam and i want to support in is bottom a slab ( not on the top), how can i do it in the RSA?

@luismrf 

Before meshing, create intermediate nodes in the beam and on the side to be supported of the slab then join them with rigid links.

You may also use "offset"

i used the offset, but the results are the same or different using it?

 

How do you use the regid links?

Hi @Simau,

 

if i use the offset and place the slab in the bottom of the beam i get the same results if i didn´t used the offset?

 

The offset only changes the model graphically, the results are the same, no?

 

 

What i wanted to simulate correctly was to support the slab at the bottoom of the beam ,

i have one more question please, how can i make sure that the longitudinal beams get all the load sent from the slab ?!

You need to create a new thickness with orthotropic material, for example this one in the screenshot

this was what i was trying to do, placing a linear release along the tranversal beams, but that didn´t worked.. why?

If you have an isotropic slab, the load distribution on the support beams will be done according to the stiffness of these beams. It has nothing to do with the linear releases of the slab.

However if you create an orthotropic slab in the model, it must be orthotropic in reality

@Simau i have a situation similar to this above but i don´t have a tickness i only have a cladding because i want to simulate a very light canopy, how can i send load only to the longitudinal beams?!

You may use one way cladding which will send loads according to its local axis=

and if i already have a cladding is it possible to edit oit to one way, or do i have to delete the one that i have and draw a new one?
