Wood Framing for Revit 2017

Greetings

I have been working with the Wood framing Extension for the past moth and I found this great video from Autodesk that shows step by step on how to accomplish the work.

But I have a problem that I can not get around it.

I draw my Studs Walls 2x and go thru the whole process of doing wall, opening, sill, plate ect.  Once I am done i save it click okay just to find out the all the framing generated by the "wood framing extension" is not centered in the Stud Wall I drew.  The center of the framing that was generated in center in inside face of the Stud Wall.

I do not know if I am missing something and why is doing that. Some has ab idea why is behaving like this.  Thanks in advance, your reply will be greatly appreciated.

PS. I can post a pic as soon as I get back to the office to give you a better idea if needed

Hi W Estrada,

Welcome to the Forum!  I tested this in Revit 2017.2.3 with the extension and cannot reproduce the results you’re getting.

I recommend you retry this with the following steps:

  1. Make sure you’re in current update of Revit 2017 using your Autodsek Desktop App or downloading from you Autodesk account. See How to tie the Build number with the Revit update
  2. Ideally, as you do these steps, use Screencast to capture the video (so you can post here if further assistance is needed). Note that Screencast allows for audio narration as well if you turn a mic on.
  3. Start a new project using a default out-of-the-box (OOTB) template. I used the architecture template.
  4. Create a new generic 6” wall.
  5. Select wall and use the extension.
  6. Take note of the settings being used in the extension dialog and hit OK.

What are the results?

If it works, then you’re in business.  If not, post the Screencast video here (or some screenshots) of the results and your extension dialog settings used.

Just out of curiosity, is this the "Timber Framing 2015" extension you are using?

So there's a way to do the framing without the extension?  The extension is for 2015/2016, right?
