Radial and Ring/Contour Bars along the radius of a donut/circular slab. Modeling and annotation.

Hi Community,

I'm having troubles with modeling and annotating rebar in a circular/donut shaped floor component.

  • Radial Rebars - I was able to model these with free form rebar to aligned path and face.
  • Ring Bars/Contour Bars - I could find no proper way to model these. I had to rely on old school sketch the rebar in each place. This is not reliable in any case nor is it the right way to model the rebar according to me. There should be a proper way to do this if someone knows, please help me. I have tried pretty much everything REVIT has to offer.
  • Annotation issues - In a huge circular spanning 3m in radius. There is no multi-rebar tagging present for radial bars or circular bars. There isn't proper dimensioning available as well.

I'm here by attaching few images for your reference.

Thankyou in advance.

It will depend on the shape/slopes of the model, you could utilise Path Reinforcement for each half?

As I recall I think you need to do the Ring Element with the Circle as Segments as i do not think it can do a fill ring using the Free-Form Surface Method

Hi @jay_colcombe ,

Thank you for your timely response and it solves a major problem of mine while still half of it remains unsolved. Is there any better way to resolve the issue with ring bars and annotation? Also, under the circumstance there is no splicing option.

With that out of the way now the issue persists with visibility of rebars in plan view. It's all distorted. Pasting the picture below for your reference. I have tried all sorts of view range and setting the visibility graphics to un obscured. Nothing seems to help.

Thank you in advance for the great help.

Yes unfortunately Splicing is not available for Free-Form Rebar in Revit using Revit Tools.  you would need to manually edit them using the Constraints Tool and for Radial it is not ideal.

As regards the Visibility, have you looked at the Show Hidden Lines in the Properties Palette and the Discipline this is the only other area where i can think is no Overrides are being applied which could influence the display of the Rebar

@jay_colcombe Thanks a lot for the solution. I have marked them both as acceptable solutions. With structure and rebars there's still a lot more needed to make things site ready. If you have nay other solutions for radial rebar it would be of great help. Do you have any dynamo resource for the same? Thanks a lot again you have been of great help.
