Instance parameters in family will not change in revit 2018.1

I have families with instance parameters that change stuff in the project which have all other versions but in 2018.1 they will often not work. I created a video that shows what happens. https://www.screencast.com/t/XCsrlGwERKO9

I can check the box or change the numerical value and the "apply" button will become active until I try to select it. then it grays out and the change that I made reverts to what it had been.

Sometimes if I go to a different view or reopen the project or sync then it will work as it should.

I have the same problem. It seems when you change the parameter you have to go down to the apply button at the bottom of the screen for it to work. Hitting enter does not work or moving mouse cursor away value when you done.

Same issue here. Have experienced on different 2018 projects. Different computers. Different users.

So far I have not gotten any help on this bug from Autodesk so it is good to hear that others are experiencing that same issue.  Hopefully they will fix it soon.

Small victory as sometime hitting Apply (not Enter) will take the revised variable. Sometimes...

Very irritating having to move your mouse cursor down to the bottom to click the small "Apply" button.

And that work-around is only affective sometimes.  I find that changing to a 3d view will also sometimes help.  I have also found instances where the only recourse was to delete and rebuild GGGRRR!!!

Same problem here.  Sometimes pressing enter after a change works, most time it doesn't.  Sometimes moving the cursor out of the properties pallette works, sometimes I have to make the same changes 3 or 4 times before the changes will take affect.  Sometimes pressing apply works, sometimes it doesn't.  Sometimes a couple changes (if multiple ones are made) will work, but others don't take affect.

Going bonkers here!

We have one machine experiencing this same issue.  Other users with the same file, same versions (2018.1.1.18) don't have the issue and it also appears to be intermittent and infuriating!  Hopefully other users will help get attention.

We resolved by re-installing since we had to get moving and Autodesk was unresponsive.
I would hardly call it a solution but it worked (and ate up a whole day of machine time).
Hopefully they will find the issue before it gets more people.

I've been noticing this as well, although it seems to have started the other day.  On a whim, I uninstalled the Structural Precast addin (it kept throwing errors anyways) and it seems to have resolved the issue, at least in the 30 seconds of testing I've done since then.  I'm guessing it has something to do with refreshing the install itself similar to Jake reinstalling but can't be certain.  If you are having an issue a repair install might clean it up.

Hi

On  my machine the problem appears when Precast is activated.

I turned it off and it works witn no problem, turn it on problem starts again.

For me this solved the problem.

Thanks Chad for pointing on precast.

Fredrik -

I agree, I unloaded the structural precast add-in and the issue appears to have gone away. Hopefully Autodesk is looking into this for a fix.

I unloaded the Structural Precast add-in.  And I also unloaded all the other add-ins I don't use (but had installed when the became available because I hate seeing the desktop app w/ available updates notification.  I know there's another solution to that, but...)

That seems to have fixed the problem for me...and also, revit in general now works a little smoother & faster.

I am having this exact same problem in Revit 2018.2 with door and window families that I have been using since R2013.  If I adjust the parameters before I insert them into the model they maintain the value, but I can not re-adjust or change any Instant Parameters after insertion.  I can Edit Family and change Type Parameters and have them adjust.

Fredrik, you mentioned "turning off" the precast module.  Is there a way to turn it off without unloading the precast module?

Hi

On the Precast tab there is an on/off button that can be used. When it is off buttons on precast tab is gray.

Unfortunately, I have found that precast is turned on again sometimes.
