Custom Steel Connections - Sloping Framing

Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to create the connection pictured below (pics 1 and 2). To do this, I created a custom connection. It looks great, but does not adapt properly when the framing slopes (3rd picture). I have three questions: 

1) Can custom connections be made to flex with different framing angles? 

2) Is there a way to create this connection using a standard connection type? 

3) Is there any other method you would suggest to accomplish this?
