Civil 3D pipe network to Revit

Hi,

is it possible to import the pipe networks created in Civil 3D into Revit. I know it is possible to bring in surfaces and road networks but what about the pipe systems.

Thanks

If the file is exported from an isometric view to a 3D DWG, the geometry should be visible in Revit. They won't be smart objects, but they should display when imported.

I'm not sure if the new version is any better at this (judging on Civil3D 2014 probably not).

The best way to get a Civil 3D Pipe network into a Revit model is to use the following workflow.

  • In Civil3d switch to a 3d view and explode twice to get solids and save the file elsewhere.
  • In Revit Structure. Create a new Mass Solid object and import the drawing data and insert to model.

By using this you can cut sections and annotate most of the obejcts however as stated previously the objects will not have any inteligent information.

Whilst were here for surfaces:

  • in civil 3d, explode them to faces, type Region then select all faces.
  • Export regions to drawing or Sat files then import as Mass obect.

Now the surface displays exactly as is was in civil 3d and is sectionable and annotatable.

These are the best workarounds we have until these products play happy together "2015?"

Export the Civil 3D file to .ifc (Industry Foundation Class) file format and then link into Revit under the IFC tab.
