Remove Hosted or Non Hosted from Properties Drop Down

Greetings.

Is there any setting to automatically remove / filter the families that cannot be selected from the drop down of the properties due to its hosting type?

For instance, we have hosted and non hosted versions of a few families, however both show up.  If you mistakenly move to the wrong family Revit throws an error (which makes sense) because it cannot just convert from a host to a non-host.

However, why did you show me that as an option if you knew I couldn't select it?  Minor grievance and I didn't see an option for it but this program buries settings in unlikely areas.

Any ideas?  Thanks!

PS.  I know you can search through the properties bar so having a tag / marker in their would be one possibility... just requires a lot of rework of types.

Not that I'm aware of. We usually just name our families accordingly so staff knows what there selecting.

  • i.e. Light Fixture - Ceiling, Light Fixture - Face, etc...
