Override the colour of everything in a Revit link

Hi, I am an electrical designer and work with MEP files. This is a fit up project and I have the architect's file linked in and the base building electrical Revit file linked in to show the existing devices. I am trying to make all the devices show up as RED in the electrical link. The link display settings are set to custom and not 'By Host View'. I overrode the Generic Annotations line colour to red, but only some of the devices changed:

As you can see in this snippet, only the receptacle changed to red and not the communication outlet:

I even went back into the custom display settings for the electrical link and overrode ALL the model and annotation categories to red, but it still didn't make the communication outlet to red. Any idea why? Somthing to do with object styles? Changing the colour of devices in Revit always makes my head spin.

Any help is appreciated!

When you changed "ALL" the categories to red, did you get all the subcategories?

Approaches to annotation symbols vary quite a bit. Instead of throwing darts and hoping to find the right category, dig into the family and find out exactly what you need to do.

Thanks! Didn't realize I had to expand all the subcategories in order to override their colour as well.

The tree type view got me early on, too. I thought that changing the master would change all the subcategories until it didn't and I expanded the category.
