Groups exploded after IFC export

Has anyone ever had this issue?

After exporting an IFC the groups in the model have been exploded.

What could possibly be the cause of this?

when making an IFC, I do not believe "Groups" are maintained. You can select the Modify Setup option and look thru the IFC settings for the selected setup your using, but i don't think that is an option.
