Family not visible in plan view

I have created a family from a sat file, which is classed as a a mechanical item, and I have inserted in the project. It is visible in an elevation, but not in a plan view.

I have many other families which are the same type which are visible in a plan view also, but not this one family.

Why would this one be invisible?

Hi @tmccar

There are quite a few possibilities as to why this would happen. Is you Mechanical Equipment turned on for that view under your Visibility/Graphics Overrides (VV or VG)? You're sure that the family was set to the Mechanical Equipment Category? Is the View Range set to the correct heights etc.?

You're welcome share the family or images of your view along with Project Pallet information or VG information. Sending the family will be a quicker route.

Hope this helps.

Yes, mechanical equipment is turned on because there are many other mechanical items visible.

View range is set to unlimited in both directions.

confirm that when you are in the family editor, select the elements in your elevation, or 3d view they are turned on in your Plan / RCP  and set for each Detail Level in the Family  Element Visibility Settings

In the family editor, I can see the item in the "Ref Level". But in the Front and Left view, it is invisible.

while in the family Editor go to a 3d view select everything right click and select Visibility.

depending how the family was created, check all the boxes until you get the display you want.

see previous posted image

if possible could you share the family so others can investigate

It's not visible in 3D, and there's practically nothing to click anyway.

When it's exploded, it loses a large part of it.

unfortunately that may be a result of the source it was imported from

it can be used as a base to get you started and fine tuned afterwards.
