Different center lines for different pipe systems

Hello,

Any idea how to give different centre line types for different pipe systems?

Regards

You have to apply some workarounds to do this. There are several methods, all with their pros and cons.

Overlaying

PIpe Centres 1.png

-For each pipe system create a different view.

-Hide everything but one pipe system.

-In each view you can use graphics overrides to create a center line.

-On a sheet stack the different views on top of each other.

Diasadvantage is that it might cause issues with crossing objects

System Overrides

-Each pipe system has a setting for graphics overrides. Use this to set different lines. This changes the center lines but (unfortunately) also the edges.

-If edges is an issue, you can use the linework tool (Modify Tab) to correct the edges to the proper linestyle.

Diasdvantage is that the linework tool will be a lot of manual work when you have lots of pipes

Dynamo

-Under graphics overrides hide the center lines.

-Create a dynamo script that draws centerlines for each system (here detail lines).

Disadvantage is that the center lines are separate objects, meaning that if pipe moves you have to adjust the lines (or delete them and rerun the script)

I have used all methods. The choice depending on the project (size and needs)

Would filters work?

Couldn't seem to get images to paste in-line so I attached the image.

I did this up real quick to show. I had one set to Hydronic and the other to Fire Protection Wet.

Thanks for the answer. It's too much effort for so small detail. We decided to use different colors, the easiest sollution in our case.

Glad you found some thing that will do. ...but centerline filters will take about the same amount of effort as changing colors via filters.
