Electrical: Phase Created/Demolished for Wires and Circuits

Having worked with projects originally created in Revit several years ago that may be modified in a later project, it would be nice to be able to assign a Phase Created and Phase Demolished to both wires and circuits. This way a plan could show existing to remain wires created in a previous project in light gray and new ones in regular bold/black lines.

 

With circuits, a panel that is being modified in a different phase would need to be able to be phased (in terms of project sequence, not electrical power phase) such that Panel Schedules can align with a given point in time. So a panel created in Phase 1 could conceivably have more than one schedule: A Phase 1 schedule and a Phase 2 schedule in which circuits may get added or removed. 

 

I feel this would be useful from the standpoint of delineating existing loads on a panel from new ones, and potentially avoid having to recreate the wheel if using a Revit model long-term for several phases of work.

Panel Schedule with ability to show circuits that remain as well as get removed:

Clicking on the circuit number itself to see that particular Electrical Circuit would then have the same Phase Created/Phase Demolished parameter options. Rows for circuits that get removed would need a font or filled region object style as part of the Panel Schedule template showing them as being taken out of that panel. The load totals shown would then calculate existing to remain circuits only if the schedule's Phase Filter were set to "Show Previous + Demo".

Actualmente, con el sistema de cableado, tenemos problemas cuando el proyecto tiene múltiples fases que afectan la misma área... si necesitamos ver lo que existe en la nueva fase, para ver el cableado existente necesitamos duplicarlo. Esto provoca un ciclo infinito, y el cableado se vuelve inestable si cambia en cualquier fase porque sigue leyendo el cable en la otra fase, lo que resulta en trabajo doble ya que tendríamos que ir a todas las fases afectadas por el cable para evitar alterar los resultados de los circuitos.

La idea es que si el cableado fuera como un tipo de línea de detalle que se pudiera ver a través de las fases, que se pueda colocar en conjuntos de trabajo y se pueda demoler por fases como una familia, esto resolvería el problema mencionado anteriormente y evitaría la duplicación.

Currently, with the wiring system, we have problems when the project has multiple phases affecting the same area... if we need to see what exists in the new phase, to see the existing wiring we need to duplicate it. This creates an endless cycle, and the wiring becomes unstable if it changes in any phase because it continues to read the wire in the other phase, resulting in double work since we would have to go to all the phases affected by the wiring to avoid altering the circuit results.

The idea is that if the wiring were like a type of detail line that could be viewed across phases, could be placed in work sets, and could be demolished by phases like a family, this would solve the problem mentioned above and avoid duplication.

This happens to me too while working with different phases in the same project. It will be a great change if Revit can fix this. The wiring tick marks go crazy if I duplicate the wiring and connect it to the electrical devices to be visible in different views. I'll follow this post to see if Autodesk or someone come with something.

Being able to assign wires to phases and having them behave like a family across views, (even if they aren't visible in 3D) would solve a lot of problems. This is especially true when you have multiple phases and different sheets for each phase, and you need the wires to show up in all of them...

 

It is really a problem.
