SO, you know when you're detailing a section (for a wood deck, for ex.), and you're going around and placing the detail item all over the place? Why not be able to set that detail item to appear on each of those elements automatically when cutting a section? I added a picture that probably makes more sense.
I'd say set a specific detail item for a section of an element, mostly for the instances (such as lumber) where you can have a continuous or non-continuous member.
