This is currently limiting our operations - a drive for efficiency and consistency spawns hundreds of schedule templates, which is of course counter intuitive. Seems logical for you to fix this at source, thank you.
There are 6 types of schedules (schedule/quantities, graphical column, material takeoff, sheet, note block and views) I'd like to be able to group by those names. I don't know what that would be called, by type? By schedule category?
Now with these different "types / category" grouped, I could see me wanting different secondary groupings. Schedule/Quantities -> By Category, that makes sense. Material Takeoff -> Material name? Sheet List and Views could just be by name, I have fewer of those. Or give access to project parameters to make everything custom based on our imagination.
I'm pleased to say that we have implemented the ability to organize your schedules in the project browser the same way as sheets and view. It is now available in Revit 2018.1. You can check out info on the functionality here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0uqpSpWH1c Thanks for contributing!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for adding this feature to 2018.1!!
When I heard it was implemented the first thing I did was try it out!
I do have a couple comments / suggestions for how to improve this feature even more:
1. When grouping by Schedule Type in Browser organization, I'd love for it to separate out by different schedule types created by duplicating the schedule system family - creating types for "working schedules", "CD schedules", "calculation schedules", etc. that would be broken out in the browser separately. Currently, when I choose to group by schedule type it puts them all in "Building Component Schedule" in the browser.
2. I'd love for this same functionality to be added to Legends as well!
I would like to thank Autodesk development team for implementing my idea. It works great, time saving and organization. Looking forward to see some of the Autodesk team at AU Vegas in November.
