Rough Line Type for Drafting

Rough Line Type for Drafting

In detail views, I often find myself drafting zig-zaggy lines for unformed concrete edges or roughened surfaces. It feels like the kind of thing that could save time if it was built in. Maybe similar to the way revision clouds work? But I'd want to be able to still measure to it.

I this were implemented by Autodesk, it would probably be as useful as the curly insulation line - another non tagable entity. I think your line based detail element approach is much better.

I understand your point, but there is already an option to achieve this using a Detail Item Family. You can create any line shape or pattern you need and then reuse it throughout your projects. We use this method for rough slab edges and other rough concrete surfaces, similar to what you described. It is flexible and still allows you to dimension and annotate as neede

I think this could be addressed with the ability to draw freehand lines -- whatever freeform squiggles we want. This would also facilitate making informal markups (like when a colleague is giving me feedback about my drawing details -- much easier if I can just scribble it now then draw it properly later!).

In theory this adds to file size, but it's just a drop in the ocean compared to .rvt file sizes.
