Revit for Mac

Revit for Mac

*Note: This request has been addressed by our Product Teams in this Revit Public Roadmap FAQ.

Please start producing REVIT for Mac. It is a must have application for architecture students and the mac industry occupies a huge part of the computer industry. We really need the software.

Roadmap where? There is nothing about revit for mac there?!

@raulKa ,

Edited to add a direct link here.

Under Revit - Architecture, click "Not Now - Common FAQs" tab, then click the Revit for Mac card to read the description.

“We offer an alternative way to use your Mac and Revit: virtualization (VMware or Parallels being options)”

What is the meaning of this? Does Autodesk provide me an official Parallels license? Or Might I pay a hundred $ to use a thousand $$$ tool? (spoiler: the correct answer is the second one)

To sum up, Autodesk doesn’t provide any facilities to his own macOS costumers. That is why this forum exists for.

Typical Autodesk approach to just ignore it's community.  One day there will be an alternative, and they will wonder why no one stuck around.

The text written there is exactly the same like he posted here in this thread around a year ago. And after a year you still haven’t understood anything and been able to come up with an actual excuse.

Seems like you just don’t have skilled enough workers who would be able to complete this task. They too busy building dark mode😂😂😂

Just keep on polishing this turd, it’s not like you have to use this “software” for daily work.

If anyone has found a Revit alternative other than ArchiCAD or Vectorworks, please share it on here.

@Hudson_Bronson I think "just ignore is community" is to develop a Mac version delaying a bunch of other improvement that actual revit users (windows) wants and needs; only because Mac user are Windows-Intolerant.

I know a Mac version would be nice to have, but most off the users are in windows and also need other tools to be develops.

Mac computer had change from three processor families (PowerPC, x86, ARM) since Revit exist. So Revit would had develop like 3 Mac version if they run on Mac.

@dkuo.dati

you can check Bricsys.

@samuelsanf

So when Microsoft finally changes to ARM it will be the end of Revit?

Autodesk is playing this wrong. BIM is the need, not Revit...so "windows-intolerant" will move on.

@tiagopimentel Windows 11 (Win 10 and Win RT) support ARM devices like Microsoft Surface; if windows decide to end support for x86 processor, that will not happends in short term... And probably by then we will have a program that supersedes Revit running on the cloud, also operative system agnostic (and the possibility to run this next-revit even in your fridge). Which would also solve "backward compatibility issue" and maybe pi-ra-cy. But at the same time, tons of users would claim that the want the install alon versions back.

The reality is that Mac users would not have native Revit on Mac for the next years and needs to use any method to emulate windows, rent a remote device or simply buy a PC if they want or need to use Revit.

There's one thing I suspect they don't count.

I know many people who are Mac users and have a second windows machine who are not paying a penny for Autodesk, but if they could install Revit on their Mac, they would pay next day. Makes no sense but some people view their Mac like a nice Car. And don't think Autodesk deserve their money for using on that ugly machine they have.

Having the ability to use any architecture or design software across platforms is essential. Students can adapt easier if they don't have to worry about the financial debilitation of getting new hardware for just a handful of softwares. It would be extremely beneficial for the field as well to keep the industry evolving.

Plz make Revit native support for macOS.

For the cost of Revit annually, it’s almost insulting they don’t have a Mac version. Would love to have it for Apple Silicon. No need to support the older Mac hardware. I could potentially switch users to a M2 Max and actually SAVE money when compared to the Windows machines we purchase now. We have no idea how a Mac could potentially rip through Revit since virtualization is a no go. Please please. 7 years this has been talked about in the community. We’d love to see it happen anytime please.

Imagine the number ArchiCAD and Vectorworks users would switch over to Revit if Mac native Revit were available.

I went with Vectorworks for that reason, native Mac.

Here's a positive step in the right direction

https://blogs.autodesk.com/autocad/autocad-2024-mac/

Now we just need Autodesk to develop a native version of Revit for Macs.....please 🙂

Thanks for the update on AutoCAD for Mac 2024 enthusiasm form Autodesk. I use the LT version and have already experienced the report speed boost. Noteworthy and appreciated.

My uneducated assessment of the reasons for Autodesk not “coverting” the REVIT program to Mac is that they purchased the program and did not write the source code. Maybe I’m making excuses for them, but I’m still and advocate for getting it moved to the Mac platform.
