Revit for Mac

Please start producing REVIT for Mac. It is a must have application for architecture students and the mac industry occupies a huge part of the computer industry. We really need the software.

For the love of god, release Revit for MacOS already. It's 2021, there are huge numbers of architects and engineers that prefer working on Macs nowadays and with the new M1 Macs this is the perfect timing.

With the release of the new MacBook Pro with M1 Pro and M1 Max CPUs, Apple has revolutionised the computer industry (once again), putting Intel and Nvidia (in my opinion) in a much more difficult position. The performance of the new MacBook Pro is impressive if compared to Windows PCs with dedicated graphics cards. I hope 2022 will be the year of revolution at Autodesk as well, it's time to make Revit for Mac. Hope to see Revit 2023 for MacOS!!!

I've always used Windows, but this time I feel Apple has taken a new big step forward. It seems to be in 2007 when Steve Jobs presented Iphone 1 revolutionizing the mobile and software industry.

Please consider the power of M1 Pro and M1 Max and how smooth Revit could run on new MacBook Pro natively (without all that debatable solutions with boot camp or parallels / virtual machine). 
I believe there’re are thousands of users looking forward to Autodel products native for Mac OS). 
By the way iPad Pro  is also enough powerful device for 3D engineering.

Sounds like it’s a never for Revit on a Mac…
They say it’s a “huge investment”.
Well, Autodesk is not exactly a startup.
They have money up the wazoo.
Also, how short sighted to refuse to make an investment which would bring about enormous business from Mac users.
There has not been much significant improvement on Revit for decades.
Sorry: you need better nerds…

It sounded like "we don't even plan to develop Revit for Mac, but we apply many efforts to develop 'a spherical cow in vacuum'..." , and it is very disappointing.
Frankly speaking I hoped much that Autodesk had already started developing native M1 Revit and Inventor in 2020.

Looking into archicad…
Seems easy to learn and cheaper.
It works for the type of work I do (mostly residential).
Not as many people use it but I do most of my own design anyway.
Revit just does not listen to users…

Autodesk confirmed that there is no mac version in the works and it will never be made by them. And the developers seemed very cocky, they said they understand the power that new m1 macs have but won’t do anything about it.
Seems like our best hope is that Autodesk buys Archicad(again) or some community member makes a mac client(which they can buy).

Autodesk only cares about getting it’s users money, they don’t care about the user experience their customers have.

This whole conversation feels like yelling into the wind.

I agree with everything. I posted this in the other thread you referenced but basically this is what I have understood after some research.  The YouTube video I and others have referenced is linked in a few previous posts here too. 

Revit will be replaced with a cloud based application and users will have a thick (most likely) or thin client on their local machine to interface with.  When this will happen is anyones guess. I hold no hopes of seeing anything for at least a couple of years.  And then there is the honeymoon  phase of new complex software in the wild that will certainly reveal sizable issues that need to be fixed. So all in all, I’m guessing 2025 we might actually have something revolutionary as opposed to whatever we want call the Revit update cycle. This is the best chance to see a Mac version, however, I would bet money that we don’t see one, at least initially, based on autodesk’s history with the Mac. There is just not enough of a user base to make it a priority.

Hmmm…
I would disagree with the assertion that there is little demand from Mac users. There are quite a lot of posts to the contrary. Also, I suspect, there are a lot who use PCs for drafting and Mac for everything else - I know one, personally. There are others who like Mac but don’t invest in one because Revit won’t work on it natively.
I still think it’s blatant arrogance about the fact that Revit is the industry standard- at least currently…

There is not the assertion that there is little demand from Mac users but that the Mac user base in the related industries that would generate new licenses is just not large enough to warrant the expense and resources it would take to rewrite Revit given it's age and all the inherent issues it has.  As you noted, those Mac users who want to use Revit find a way, myself included, like you.  So they have our money already and there is no financial incentive to simply transition us to another platform.  Those who use a Mac and don't use Revit, use something else successfully and the percentage of them that would then switch to Revit as truly new licenses is likely rather small by comparison.  It doesn't mean they won't try and capture the Mac market with Revit's replacement given it's likely to be a cloud backend.  I think they will come up with something, but just not anytime soon and not with Revit as we know it.

This unfortunately is not part of their mission statement
