Revit for Mac

Please start producing REVIT for Mac. It is a must have application for architecture students and the mac industry occupies a huge part of the computer industry. We really need the software.

I took the same stance for a long time.  We've been happily using something else for years.  However we are now beginning to see RFPs that require sub-consultants like us to deliver in Revit.  We've also begun to meet some resistance from our clients and other team members as to who will insert our information in the model.  It hasn't been a real issue yet but I don't want to wait until it does become one.  So far we've been running Revit via a VMWare virtual machine without issue.  It's not ideal but gets the job done.

It’s sounds like it’s worth maybe finding a designer to do the work on a Mac product and doing the leg work to see about the process with Apple and
get a new product on the market for us.

Pretty soon bootcamp will be a thing of the past, Apple as any mac user knows has began transitioning to there own custom  silicon.  This new silicon is based on ARM tech similar to your cell phone, tablet, and some laptops.  Windows on ARM does support x64 bit application in an emulation mode. I personally have not tried to use a VM on a new M1 mac but I can not imagen creating a VM for windows on arm and then having windows on arm emulate x64 to run Revit is going to produce the best results.  Personally I have a windows based PC that is in a closet its sole purpose is to serve Revit to me.  I have used Archicad, Vectorworks, and Chief Architect. I find that Revit provides the most well rounded solution.    Now if the world decides to transition to ARM then we could expect a Revit Rewrite and maybe just maybe they will port it over to MacOS but I would not hold my breath for either to happen.

Not that again. Autodesk: please DON'T make a Revit-for-Mac. Development of Revit is already sluggish, so adding a Mac-version will only slow development down even further. So if you need Revit, and you can afford a Mac, you can afford to buy a pc. as well. The only thing you have to learn for Windows is how to start Revit.

Is 2021 and Revit is still not compatible with Mac WHY?

It is almost 2022 in a couple months and with the chip shortage, the amazing performance by the Apple M1 chip… You would hope someone at autodesk might have 2 brain cells to rub together, but apparently this is not the case. 🤷🏻‍♂️

There are sooo many Mac users, lots of them designers, that you would think Autodesk is missing out on a loooot of business.
I don’t know if it is an Autodesk issue or an apple issue or both. Whatever the reason, they should care more about customer requests…

Hello,

I work on a MacBook Pro 2019 and use Autocad, but I really hope Revit and Navisworks will be able for iOS soon.

In the meantime I wonder if I can use Revit (and all the other Autodesk apps included my subscription) on my MacBook with Parallell Desktop 16 for Mac?

I disagree, the development of the MAC version may force Autodesk to rebuild the Revit core.

With the latest release of M1 Pro and M1 Max chips on the new Macbook Pro, I believe it would awesome to have Revit running on macOS. Let's do it, Autodesk!

That would be a question for Autodesk. Apple can't force third-party
developers to support macOS


I wrote to Apple since they also have a forum and this is the response that
I've got from them. Now my question to Autodesk, just before I ask the
question let me made it clear that I have a Subscription that I pay $400.00
USD every month with Autodesk but since I am a Mac user I cannot even use
AutoCAD Architecture, now I would like to know how long Autodesk will keep
us waiting to have Autodesk Architecture and Revit and so forth for MAc Os?

Is there a possiblity that Revit could come to Mac now that Apple has introduced the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips? I'm a student and a Mac user and I hate to use Parallels, it works really good, but it would be best if they can finally make it available for Mac

@kimberly_fuhrman-jones another one to to combine with Revit for Mac. Any word yet on the missing 3000+ RFM idea yet ? If you can't get the old one back, might be worthwhile combine all the new ones as listed below.

Are you willing to accept a second class Revit application just as AutoCAD for Mac users have had to accept a second class AutoCAD?   There are numerous important features missing from AutoCAD Mac, not to mention the .NET API which would also be missing from Revit Mac version.   I've got a new Mac M1 16gb ($1200) paperweight, bought on the assumption that AutoCAD Mac would be close to AutoCAD Windows.
