Currently, when working with long dimension strings (such as entire wall runs), adjusting a single dimension segment is highly inefficient. If I need to move just one dimension text or line for clarity, Revit forces the entire chain to move with it.
The current workaround—using the Tab key to select and delete a segment—is too slow for fast-paced production environments. Deleting and then redrawing dimensions to create separate strings wastes valuable time and risks errors in complex documentation.
Proposed Solution:
I suggest a new feature: "Exclude Segment from String" or a "Detach Segment" toggle.
How it would work: Users could select a specific segment within a string (via Tab or a right-click option) and choose "Detach."
Result: This segment would become an independent dimension object instantly, allowing it to be moved or adjusted without affecting the rest of the string, and without the need to delete and redraw.
Impact on Workflow:
This feature would significantly speed up the drafting process, especially during the final documentation phase when fine-tuning the placement of dimensions is critical for drawing legibility.
