Did you mean:

"Date" parameter type

"Date" parameter type

It's tough to do any real Facilities Management without having a Date parameter type.
I'm talking about a parameter where you could add 60 days to May 10 and end up with July 9 (if my math is correct)

This would be not just Text, but a parameter that would be (behind the scenes) something like a Julian date.
Currently, we can make Text, Integer, Number, Length, Area, Yes/No, etc. Type of Parameters.

Sure you can create a Text parameter and put anything in there you want, but it's just dumb Text.

For Facilites Management we need to be able to take a parameter and add 9 months to it for things like Lease Expiration, or 2 years for Carpet Replacement, or 60 days for Equipment Maintenance, or specify a Delivery Date forConstruction Sequencing.
The formatting should be part of the output, similar to how you can set your Length to Decimal or Feet & Inches.

I believe above comment translates to: "This date setting should also be added to Revit 2019. Thank you."

Je vote OUI / YES !! Ca serait d'une grande aide !

Seems this should be easier to integrate now that we have Global Parameters.  Real dates could be assigned to Project Phases.  Equipment could even be relocated as part of Phased work!  And, a side note, we could do away with Phase Filters and simply use View Filters to manage appearance of Phases with more control than Phase Filters currently allow.

For example, i need to program the maintencance, and i wuold like to set up a schedule like this:
LAST ISPECTION                        Value: (date) ex: 01/01/2019
NEED FOR MAINTENCANCE     Value: (yes/no)
MAINTENANCE DONE               Value: (yes/no)

NEXT ISPECTION                       Formula (Last ispection + frequency of ispection) = 31/01/2019
Frequency of ispection             Value: (number) ex: 30
I can easily do this in excel, but i want to do it in a schedule inside revit, then maybe use a plug-in to export deadlines and have a reminder on company devices.

Hi all,

Any good news about this marvelous idea?

I would like to push the reflection further.
I think Revit should natively integrate date settings for all objects (like current phase settings). Timing is an important piece of data in our current workflow.

  • Each view has a start and end date, the graphical rendering of objects is dependent on these dates (the original Revit phase graphics also work with this process!)
  • Filters can query these parameters as well.
  • This should also work with the linked Revit models ! (and easier than the current phase mapping)

In a second step, complex phasing operations (link with Navisworks) could be managed by an additional tool (such as Autodesk interoperability tools).

(In my examples, when you read "end" understand "demolition")

2024 and still nothing

Dear Dev team, This date parameter is essential for several sectors that require it. Please can you provide us with an update. I don't understand why this would be that difficult to add? There are some great comments in this thread.

Bonjour @mehermnifi,

Pourriez-vous développer votre idée ?

En l'état, ce n'est pas clair du tout...
