I like the way that Search works in the Type Selector. Wish that a similar contextual search/filter tool bar was always up and available for the Project Browser instead of the right-Click search (followed by next, next, next, next......)
I posted this idea as a comment to this idea as well (didn't see your post). I'd prefer to have a dropdown for browser organization selection though (which include a filter option) instead of only a filter option.
Good idea, especially for large projects. However there is a possibility to quick search by pressing first letters/numbers of the sheet/view you are looking for. Though it won't work if a name we are looking for is in the middle of the name.
On projects big or small the Project Browser can become an unwieldy impediment to working quickly when we have to search for that view, sheet, family whose name we know but lies buried under four or five levels of branching subfolders whose names are not as quickly recalled. A permanent Search Filter bar at the top so that with as few as 4 characters we can go right to what we want, just like with components or materials, is long overdue.
you can search for names by right clicking in the browser and selecting search option. Then type name view/family/sheet.... you are looking for. a cell to input the name would be handy by the way.
It is possible to search in the Project Browser. Right-click on Views and select Search. As @wr.marshall , it is just that there isn't a pinned search box. Is this what you are looking for, or just having the ability to search in the Project Browser?
Thank you for the suggestion. I think we should keep those Ideas separate as they could potentially be integrated independently of one another. Make sense?
We created a project browser plugin that has this exact search functionality. Please give it a try and let me know if you have any further suggestions.
