Point clouds inside families

Point clouds inside families

Would be great to insert pointclouds into families.

For example people can load 3d scaned furniture from REMAKE online community or other online sources and place them into the revit families.

Since precise texturing is still not working in revit, this might be a good solution to have realistic families in revit for rendering & VR presentations.

The users can also create their own scans using photos and placing them into project through the families. Furniture, sculptures, art works, plants, specific real world textures etc. can be nicly represented in revit.

Since we can drop point clouds into a revit model, why can we not drop them in families. this would give everyone a great tool to model families based upon existing conditions. Especially if its going to be replicated and even passed on to other projects.

Thanks for posting, we have been wanting this for quite a few years. It would be extremely beneficial to have this available to help us accurately model families and have point clouds tied to them.  The clients I deal with would like to know we are utilizing the point clouds to their fullest potential as well.

This would be very useful to me too!

It's important to enable the Point Cloud insertion in a Revit Family file, because you can improve the creation of new content.

I know you can use some workaround proccess, but the best method should be directly.

This would be so incredibly helpful. I don't understand why it is not an option already.
