Make window head heights consistent

Make window head heights consistent

I have always been amazed that every time I install a window in a wall in revit the head height is different, strange, and never where it should be.

As a residential designer, in my world window head heights 98% of the time should be 6' 8"

I wish, or hope, there is at least a way to establish a default window height and never have a need to change the head height of literally every single window in my project.

I don't understand WHY every window I add in Revit is a different header height???

The standard residential window header height has always been 6' 8" Why do I have to change the window header height EVERY time I add a window?

I've brought this up before and never heard anything past that except for a couple people liking, (agreeing with), my post.

It would save me so much time if the default window head ht was 6' 8" OR if I am able to set the project based default window head height.

Thank You

Currently, the window & door "Head Height" is a calculated parameter based on combining the "Sill Height" + "Height" for families placed in a project. Only sill height can be slightly controlled by checking "Defines Origin" for a reference plane within the family editor.

Revit is currently hardcoded for window and door head & sill heights to be associated only with "Height". There are a number of useful applications where "Rough Height" would be more appropriate, but users cannot control this association.

"Head Height" should be a default dimension parameter in the family editor similar to "Width" and "Height" (which also cannot be deleted) where a user can attached the parameter to their preferred reference plane or include in a calculation. This would allow users the option to create families that represent the ACTUAL head height for a higher level of design coordination on both residential and commercial projects.
