Cutting Family Geometry with Detail Level Control applied using Massing

Recently when creating some complex ceiling baffle families, a strange issue kept occurring when it comes to using massing to make cutouts in the family geometry. The massing tool would cut through most of the geometry within the family (Generic Model category) as expected, however, I noticed that all my suspension cables were not being recognised by the mass and therefore were not being cut as expected.

After a fair bit of playing around with categories, hosting, associating to ref planes etc. I finally discovered that the reason for this was that the suspension cable geometry was set to only display at Medium/Fine detail levels. Creating a more simple family confirmed that any geometry that has had its Detail Level Control updated to be anything other than the default (course/medium/fine) is for some reason not recognised by the cutting mass.

Attached screenshots hopefully provide better context than I have been able to.

I had initially flagged this as a bug but have since been informed that this is in some way by design. This would ideally be addressed in future releases as we typically would want to be selective about what detail levels certain geometry displays, and it is not clear to me what benefit there is in limiting the ability of the mass cutting workflow in these situations.
