Cut Pattern in Materials

Cut Pattern in Materials

1. The Cut Pattern in Materials could be divided in two sections.

Medium Cut Pattern

Fine Cut Pattern

In That way It would give better control of the draftingpatterns. in some cases the choice of scale gives either a to dense or loose pattern for different scales.

In som cases I want a 1:100 in Medium Lavel of Detail to be 1mm Linespacing, and the same material in 1:10 with 2mm Linespacing.

2. Allow Model Pattern in Cut Pattern at a Costum Scale.

Please allow model patterns to be used as a material's background or foreground pattern!

This would save a lot of work for a lot of things but my primary use case as an Architect is improving /reducing drafting time for wall sections.

As a specific example - Brick and CMU in sections either have to be drafted manually or you have to be resigned to just showing the fairly generic (even if you make a custom one) drafting pattern. If you could use a model pattern for this you could get as specific as you want (assuming you're good at making PAT files that is).

Here's an example with both brick and CMU of how close you can get to detail components using model patterns.

Dear Autodesk, what gives?

This seems so obvious, and it is has been screaming out for change for years.

  • Why can't material / graphics / cut patterns utilise fill (model) patterns?
(These can then be aligned, snapped to etc...so useful with surface pattern fills)
  • Why can't we have a plan cut pattern AND a section cut pattern ? (E.g. cut pattern 1 + 2)
(bricks, timber etc... appear different in plan and section, so it goes...)

Please add this relative easy fix in the next update, I don't want to wait another year!

Ja takk ti forslag 2.) !!!

It would be nice to could have cut patterns as model pattern type.

Then it would be more easy to indicate construction as 2D pattern instead of modelling it in 3D.

Totally agree. Don't forget to add an option to be the same in all detail levels so we don't have to setup stuff twice when we want it to be the same.

@Ric_Weber , with absolutely all due respect! I believe this idea is a bit different as it is asking specifically for Model patterns in the Background, versus the Idea you posted which has more to do with scale and density of both Model and Drafting patterns along with the above. Am I understanding that correctly?

@kimberly_fuhrman-jones, In this idea, it is asking for model patterns in the foreground and background of the cut patterns of materials.  i.e. allow model patterns in all points where patterns are selected.  Currently, the only pattern that can be a model pattern is the Projection Foreground...  all other's will only accept Drafting patterns.

The second part of the other idea says, "2. Allow Model Pattern in Cut Pattern at a Costum Scale."  If you look through the comments, most of them are regarding that point.  A lot of the comments appear to be other merged ideas all dealing with the desire to allow Model patterns for the Cut pattern.
