Cut and Paste Multiple Views from One Sheet to Another

Cut and Paste Multiple Views from One Sheet to Another

I would like to be able to select multiple views on one sheet, right-click, cut, and paste to the same location on another sheet.

Example of where this would come in handy: I had a sheet with door schedule, door and frame types, and details.  I needed to add more door types but the sheet was full so I decided to move the details to their own sheet.  I used this method to move the details, one at a time, from the existing sheet to the new sheet.  The problem is that now I have to organize them on the new sheet.  If I could have simply selected all of the views I wanted to move and pasted them in-place to the new sheet it would save a lot of trouble.

Another possible solution would be the ability to drag a selected group of views from one open sheet to another.

Select multiple views on one sheet and move them to another sheet together. Particularly useful if you have a series of interior elevations set up on one sheet and need to move a row of them to another sheet. Alignment of views, spacing between views, and location of view title would all be maintained.

Beautifull way to put it. Autodesk listen to this way of working. This could solve the problem of simply moving views between sheets (not make copy). Hope to see it soon. And the copy one as you are at it! 😉

The ability to drag a detail from one sheet to another and bypass the browser would save an incredible amount of time especially on big projects with multiple progress issues.

Placing views on sheets is a huge time-suck in Revit.  There are add-ins that help but Revit should really be smarter than it is about this.

I also wish that when you move the view, you didn't have to re-select the viewport type.  maybe its the way our details are set up, but but I always have to re-select the "detail view" as the default comes in as "viewport 1".

I'm surprised this idea hasn't had more traffic.  Cut/paste is a fundamental feature of practically all commonly used software.  Microsoft products, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, even within Revit for everything except views placed on sheets.  I wouldn't call this a "missing feature" or a "nice to have improvement".  This process is broken.

3 years later from the original post, and I can't believe that this feature still hasn't been included into any software upgrade!

Select your views, right click, select "Move View Aligned to Sheet". You can't move schedules and I'm sure there are some other limitations but this goes a long way.
