Allow copying text to clipboard on expanded error dialogs

It would be very nice to be able to quickly copy to clipboard, text in expanded error messages(e.g. element id numbers). It is very frustrating that the only way to "grab" the id numbers is by exporting to HTML then opening in browser, or to manually write them down.

It would be of great help to be able to just copy and past id numbers from the error messages window,

at the moment you can either export the message then find the error by id, or write the id number manually!

so why not just copy!

I thought this before.

I use the snipping tool as a work around!

I agree.  It would also be great if you could just select the element in the model right from the warning dialog without closing the warnings, instead of just showing it.

Yes, that's better again!

Maybe you are aware of this, but there is an option to export the warnings to excel, from there you can copy and paste back into Revit.

Here's another great post about improving that crappy HTML export too!

The HTML export is junk though. It needs improvements too. Here's an Idea about improving that too!

All of these options would be useful and make dealing with Warnings / Errors so much simpler.

@kimberly_fuhrman-jones - I believe there are two Copy / Paste posts that should probably be combined. This one as well as the link below. Thanks!

@casquatch , I recently discovered that PowerToys has an OCR tool that works just like the snipping tool in windows. It is triggered by the shortcut WinKey+Shift+T. You "snip" the text (eg element Id) on screen, and the text gets recognised and copied to clipboard.
Not the solution I'd like, but a convenient workaround for now 🙂

@esk0r, good call! I already have Powertoys installed, but I believe it's an older version without the newer OCR feature. I'll have to update and then remember to use it for stuff like that!

Yes! Just goes to show how many people dont care about the issues in their model that this hasn't been implemented ages ago. Also, we need more precices error messages, not just which element is affected.
