Coloring the rows in schedules

Coloring the rows in schedules

In list views; we need some rows to be shown in color in order to differentiate some materials from one another; for example in door schedule to be able to tell wood doors from cubicle doors and such. But when the row is selected, ‘Appearance’ tab is not active and row can not be colored.

We wish color the rows by using ‘Appearance’ tab and ‘Shading’ command.

Ability to Shade Schedules Rows...or any other format option per row not column only.

Upgrade conditional format in schedules to be able to format ROWS(not only cells) to different appearance of the text, making it bold for instance. One idea would be to make the drawings of a specific date in a schedule bold, highlighting them in a PM.

Great thread btw!  : )

I just used 80 clicks to shade rows pertaining to links in a Level Schedule. Setting conditional formatting for each field takes 10 clicks... x 8 fields...!

But now I'm thinking that you idea is asking for TWO things - format by row, and text formatting (either way). Being able to set color of text (in addition to bold/italics/underline) would probably be helpful, too. 🙂

It would also be very helpful to have an option to automatically shade every other row to allow easier reading of a large schedule.

There's a whole plethora of features that would be nice to have while formatting (being able to insert blank rows, controlling row height, etc.), but I don't see any of that happening any time soon. It would be good if they could expand the features that they already DO have... being able to select multiple fields when applying conditional formatting would be very helpful.

I know you can change the colors of columns, but it would be nice to have a feature in which you can color every other row of a schedule, making it easier to read the schedule.

They could put in the tables the option of row being gray and a white row. How it can be done in excel.

Alternate row colors for big tables has been a feature of spreadsheets since the mid-1980's I believe (whoa inverse green) , so it is pretty startling that it is missing here.

Hi Autodesk! It would be great if you could add the possibility to color the background of the rows of the schedules. I mean: in a schedule of the floors it will be nice if we could assign colors to the row of the elements indipendently. E.G.: floor A look yellow, floor B look orange and so on.

It would be REAL GREAT if we can combine this color to parameters. E.G.  floors will have a parameter called "schedule color", so the schedule will take directly this parameter and it will show up as a background in schedule. Also this parameter can be associated to other things, E.G.: Materials or filters or views etc.

The sky will be the limit then.

Thanks!

It would be nice to have the option to shade rows in Revit schedule without having to use conditional formatting and parameters. IT should be just as easy as shading columns.

That's already been marked as a "Accepted Idea" in the Revit Roadmap

Need the ability to pick various colours for special rows with different criterea.

You can apply a colour with formatting options, but it only gives the option of equal/not equal. If try use this method it not functional if need another special row a different colour, as only allows for one set of conditional format criterea.

Would be easier for user to highlight a row or individual cells and then specify colour required.

@dplumb_BWBR This only for striped rows though. I have run into a situation today where I require special rows with different colours

Putting a color code in a schedule is a lot of work. And it does not feel logical and I know I have to read my notes before I can reprduce it.

It would be way more easy if I could put the filters I used to color my floor elements in my schedule. Now I made little images in the right color and used them in Image in my schedule. But as said before, that is a lot of work.

@ron_adst if your are looking for alternate lines being coloured  this is already in the software.

As for special lines there is a methodology to colour them, but I have found you can only use 1 colour and not multiple colours

Please review this idea and comments, and if feel the same please ask @kimberly_fuhrman-jones to combine your idea

In the example I have floor elements with different widths. Each width is given a different color by means of a filter. I would like to be able to get the same colors in the schedule with the same filter.

Kimberly is asking for something a little bit different.

This idea is a little related, instead of colorize a cell in the schedule, ask to create a legent for applied filters

I thought of that. But then I have a legend and a schedule. A legend on a drawing is good. But I want the colors in the schedule.
