Revit - Show Cameras in Plan/RCP

Revit - Show Cameras in Plan/RCP

It would be great if the Cameras placed in Revit had assigned graphic representation, could be tagged and could be permanently turned on or off via V/G.  This would be great from a graphics and presentation standpoint.

Additionally, it would be great to see where the Camera Views are if for nothing else than to eliminate the duplicates and unneeded ones.

Love this idea.. Why not give a marker that shows up on a plan for these camera views? There is no good reason not to.

hi @nbower

That is a good idea.

But in PB right click on camera View and Click Show camera.

camera will display the current view and you can change.

I am aware you can "show camera" to adjust but I think he means he wants a marker similar to a section marker that is on the plan that has referencing capabilities. Is that correct nbower?

that is correct apaupert.  I think most people are aware you can show them in plan by right clicking in the PB.  They disappear as soon as deselected though.

I want to show the camera for graphical purposes.

during presentations, would be nice to show in plans where a camera view is taken from instead of adding a 'dummie' elevation tag to show camera location and direction.

Yes Please !!!!....

We shouldn't be requesting a CAMERA TAG.... is a must have !!...

These should be families like sections and elevations with graphical markers that we can customise. Actually, we should probably just be able to put cameras in families.

When you right click on a camera you can use the "Select all instances in entire Project" option but the "Select all instances visible in View" does not work (as they are not visible).

Could we have the ability to show all cameras in the current view?

I would add to this a view control bar option of "show cameras" like "reveal hidden objects" or "reveal constraints"

We need a "Show Cameras" button, just like "Reveal Hidden Constraints" in the view control bar. Nuff said.

Got an even better suggestion. Turn camera locations into view markers, just like sections/elevations, so that we can actually see/print them if needed. I've seen lots of people create a generic annotation to fake a camera location.

Cameras should be an object rather than a tag. So can see in all views and be controlled by view controls

I agree.  This would be a nice feature.

Supported. This would add simple effectiveness.

That would be really useful indeed.

Agreed.  It would be excellent to have them appear like a Section or Elevation marker if needed.

I would like to be able to permantly (and automatically) show camera positions in a view so that I would not have to (re)annotate this when ever the camara position is changed. It's allready possible to display the camera when the camera crop region is selected.

 Then, why not permenantly?

This would be extremely useful - please add this Autodesk!

Would be nice if they had similar features as 3DS Max cameras. Also, if one could create their own symbolic (and legend capable) representation, that would be nice.
