automatic rebar splitting

automatic rebar splitting

ALL my rebar is longer than 12m ( civil work)

I can't use revit rebar if it doesn't split my rebar automatic when it's longer than 12m.

Nobody will pay me for manually splitting rebar for 2 weeks when somebody else ( with a other program) can do the whole project in 1/2 day.

Every diameter has a other overlapping length.

I don't know any reason why this is not available ! this is basic rebar drawing ...

EXTRA

TIP: I don't need to see it -> just gives (a lot) more work to see everything in my drawings

Just want a automatic split and supplement in my rebar shedule !!!

Can't be so hard to code this !

If you don't need to see overlapping, you can just add some formulas to rebar schedules.

As for me, I want to see it in model. But there is few problems:

1) What If we need 50% overlapping in one section

2) What if we need control where will be position of splitting.

3) What if we need hooks at overlapping.

I think this must be something like rebar coupler family, to connect different bar sets with overlap, and tools to smart place it.

Extra formulas are a help but don't cover it all.
In final i wan't to have the same options like you...

Hi guys, I do not read english well but it seems like you need this one right?
In Vietnam I divided the 11m7 steel segments by dynamo when starting to make steel. Of course, you can customize the joint length, bar length, joint position as you like. Good luck !

thanks danghuulamnd. Dynamo was already on my radar. Gonna take a deeper look in to this after seeing your screenshot.

Hallo mid,

I think you might be interested in our Revit Application: SOFiSTiK Reinforcement Detailing.

You can find there a wide range of different tools for rebar modelling, modification and detailing.

One of them is Split Rebars tool. More information here:

Last time i used sofistik i could not select different Ø bars a once with the splitting tool -> changed now?

And when i wanted to change a opening in my rebar, everyting was exploded and i had to do everything again.

Hallo mid,

I have checked Split Rebars tool with latest update of SOFiSTiK Reinforcement Detailing 2018 and it works properly. I was able to split two rebar sets with different bar diameters at once. If you encounter further problems, please send your project to support@sofistik.com

'Openings' functionality changes the layout of rebar set according to defined settings, chosen openings or openings' sizes.

In other words, after modelling of Area Reinforcement, you can choose which openings in your slab/wall should be ignored or not.

This process requires removal of Area Reinforcement and placing of Rebar Set/Rebar Container instead.

I hope I could help you.

I totally agree with you

The thing that Revit doesn't have 'Splitting rebars' doesn't make any sense

I've just checked 2019 and disappointed again

You may want to check this website

There are four videos

I'm pretty sure that is the one you really need in Revit

Yes I totally agree with this it is a basic requirement for rebar detailing.

A splitting tool with a configurable lapping length.

CADSS RC for Revit can do this, Sofistik can do this.

I work with revit for more than 10years and learned dynamo for this already.
I like working with it.
There are also some tools on the market that could help.

BUT...

i just found the perfect solution !!!
After years of struggling...
It's really perfect !!!!

...

i've changed job and gonna stop using revit for rebar drawing !!!

Gonna use a out of the box working program ... ( no tools, no programming, no package agreements on the office floor, no struggling, ...

Thx @Anonymous  for killing your only working program in years ( ASD concrete) and change it for something that was not ready...

Thx @Anonymous for slowly killing my job happiness

I am also on that path, it is more its annual license costs the same as buying the application for Revit structures. However, thanks to necessity, I learned to program, and now it works for almost everything.

@peticid

* I need Revit to overlap rebars at specified lengths automatically by cranking rebars with a custom angle. Overlap length should be specified on rebar diameter and rebar location (top layer and bottom layers have different overlap lengths based on American concrete institute). so user should be able to define overlap length in family settings and also override it for each instance. unfortunately I'm always having problems with projects deadline and this feature can help a lot to save time in bigger projects.

* I need Revit to add "bar length" to path reinforcement tags. "primary bar length" cannot be used when there is end hooks because it only displays the length of straight segment of rebar.

Thank you, Farzan, and everyone following this thread, for the detailed suggestions and support for this feature.

I recommend you to have a look at this Revit Preview forum thread.

So since Autodesk simply implements new features in only the absolute newest version of Revit, can we assume support for products is now shortened to no longer than one year?

If this is how you guys deal with updates, and even issues like IFC exports not working correctly and the solution being 'solved in 2025'. It might be time to sunset the yearly versions and just switch over to 'Revit' as the version. This is getting ridiculous.
