Adjustable row heights for schedules?

Adjustable row heights for schedules?

Sometimes we wish we could adjust the row heights such as microsoft spreadsheet. We can't do that on Revit.

@r_d_clarke & @Anonymous I just tried it in Revision Schedules (in the Titleblock), and it works for me (in R2019, didn't test earlier versions yet). I can't believe I didn't discover that Font button earlier...! I've been doing micro-adjustments to the font size for what seems like forever, and/or manually inserting dummy "spacer" revisions (to double-space the schedule). Finally, we can just click the letter (to select the column) and adjust the Font height, then click the header and set it back to normal (if headers will be shown).

The only issue I saw was that (seen when doing it on a data column), Revit appears to calculate line-wraps (and row spacing) based on the larger Font size set for the column, but displays the contents using the style's size (set in the appearance properties for the body text). This is a non-issue, though, since we'd only do the formatting on a blank column anyway.

On a related note, I would love to be able to see Dummy Revision Data in Titleblock editor (for Revision Schedules). It would save a lot of back-and-forth adjustments (reloading), or needing to use the Headers as a dummy data row.

@NateBrush I was going to point you to the idea: Revision clouding in schedules (but then I found your Revisions on Schedules idea that was posted a day earlier)! I notified the mod to combine them.

Would be nice to have the ability to resize or word wrap content in a row in a Revit schedule much like Excel. With the ability to word wrap the contents of a row it would make editing/ viewing schedules much easier.

I don't know what I was doing differently, but I can't get it to work now...

@lionel.kai Did you ever figure out how were achieving the font height to apply to each row? I can only get it to apply to the header and not any of the actual revision lines.

Hi Autodesk, How hard can this be, You have had numerous request to implement Adjustable Row Heights for Revision Schedules and Schedules, Can you please give an update on when we will be able to have this functionality.

Thank you 😊

One would have thought the option to adjust the row height in revision schedule will be a no brainer, unfortunately it is in Revit. I will like to see this functionality added

This also needs to apply to the Revision Schedule as well.

Many companies have standardized titleblocks and different layouts for different needs. I can see this problem has been around and complained about for quite some time. Autodesk probably has their reasons for not having this feature, but from the user's end it comes off as they just ignored a simple yet critical feature and continue to do so. Surely they don't expect their customers to overhaul their template standards to accommodate Revit's sub-optimal handling of revision fields.

2021 just released and I haven't checked it out yet. Maybe I'll be lucky and it will have fully functional revision schedules.

I think what is really needed is a cell margin setting like Excel or Word or AutoCAD. In the situation where data in a cell wraps over multiple lines (e.g. a note block), you would still want Revit to be able to generate suitable row heights automatically without manully manipulating row heights. It would just be nice to be able to create some breathing space between rows in some circumstances.

Also notice that under the Sorting/Grouping tab, checking the Blank line checkbox will help in some situations such as a note block.

It's incredible that after 5 years of requests about integrating one of the most simple functions for resizing row heights in schedules, the Autodesk team is completely inept at solve this one. Instead, their official solution is a sloppy workaround of changing text heights and hiding fields - how lazy.

Another obvious feature that's been missing for over a decade from this program.

Checking in 2022. Has this been implemented yet? What are we paying 400usd/mo for?

@sascari Yikes! Why are you paying $400/month? Oh, maybe you mean for your whole company, duh. 🙂

Status changed to: Accepted

Congrats! We think this is a great idea, so we've decided to add it to our roadmap. Thanks for the suggestion!

@lionel.kaiIn Italy, for whatever reason Autodesk has decided, a monthly single user license for Revit is 421 euros / month.

Hello @kimberly_fuhrman-jones, great to hear this has been accepted for implementation in the near future, but I don't actually see this on the public roadmap. I presume an oversight?

Hi, @Joey_JM !

Since Revit 2023.1 was just released, we are in the process of updating our Revit Public Roadmap. Stay tuned!

Thank you!

Kimberly

Status changed to: Implemented

We are pleased to say that this has been implemented in Revit 2024! Thank you for your contribution to improving Revit!
