The need to open Revit to extract data from models is unfortunately very limiting. I work in retail and we have thousands of models, which are reused over and over during the life of the building.
Every once in a while I need to run scripts to open dozens (if not hundreds) of models to collect data (such as department areas or equipment being used) and it always takes a very large amount of time to complete the task.
If I could access the data programmatically without having to open Revit it would be amazing.
