"Data in file *.rvt is corrupt needs to be manually recovered"

We recently bought a new laptop to work on the Revit model at the jobsite.

After installing Revit and C4R 2016 and attempting to open the file, I get this message:

"Data in file SCVMC-SG-ARCH.rvt is corrupt and needs to be manually recovered."

Here's what we've tried so far:

-Cleared out the "Temp" cache to free up disk space (it's a brand new laptop so not really necessary but tried it anyway).

-Verified that we had the most up-to-date versions installed, as well as all service packs.

-All other users are able to open the model from A360, no error/corrupt message.

-User is able to open the model on another machine, no error message.

-Reinstalled Revit and C4R.

None of this seems to make a difference. Any ideas?

Laptop specs:

Model: ASUS K501UW

Processor: Intel Core i7-6500 CPU @ 2.50 GHz

Ram: 16.0 GB

System Type: 64 bit Operating System

Graphics Card: NVDIA GEFORCE GTX 960M

Hello @amandawynne3215,

I see you're receiving a "The data in <file name> is corrupt and needs to be manually recovered" error just after opening a file shared through Collaboration for Revit in a new machine. All other users can open it properly.

Can you please attach a few journal files recorded when this error was presented?

Best regards,

Thank you.

Please look for the following folders:

Delete the local copy of the model in
C:\Users\avrp\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit 2016\CollaborationCache\5JDYMZAJ8QQX\edb22d6a-1807-47a1-9b9e-a3eec8d20972\ c741086e-fe06-408c-aa6d-64dc1d0e6896

Delete the central cache file in
C:\Users\avrp\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit 2016\CollaborationCache\5JDYMZAJ8QQX\edb22d6a-1807-47a1-9b9e-a3eec8d20972\CentralCache\c741086e-fe06-408c-aa6d-64dc1d0e6896

Delete the c741086e-fe06-408c-aa6d-64dc1d0e6896 folder located in:
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Revit\PacCache

Please also clear the %TMP% folder.

Let me know if you found these folders, deleted them and if the project file could be opened again.

Best regards,
