Wrap structural concrete column with brick

I have spent thirty minutes so far trying to wrap a concrete column with brick. First I duplicated the column type to add the brick material but there is no provision to adding material to a structural column.

Because concrete structural columns are just that - concrete and structural, you will not be able to change them. You could wrap them with a brick veneer wall. You could also edit the structural column family changing the material to brick and calling it a brick structural column and re-loading it....If you do that - change the structural material type as well in properties.

or place an "architectural" column over the structural column. Arch Columns
can have finishes applied, and will inheirit the properties of a wall if
they intersect.

The brick wall worked best after I fiddled with it. I tried to surround the structural column with an architectural column but I wanted to end up with a ring of brick around it. Wall worked best.
