Warning! IE8 messing up Revit!(?)

I just bumped into troubles this morning when I updated IE7 to IE8. At least I think it must be the reason... My OS is Vista 64-bit and the Revit version is 64-bit too. The combination has been working pretty well, up to now. Well, I was working this morning with Revit and everything was fine. I downloaded IE8 in the background and then installed it. After a while I restarted the computer as required. After restarting the OS Revit crashes immediately after the welcome screen ("recent files"), no matter what button I push (browse or any of recent files)! A popup says: "An unrecoverable error has occurred. The program will now be terminated." Luckily the 32-bit version seems to be working! But this is a serious matter. Does anybody know if there is a decent solution?

is IE8 still in beta? Uninstall IE8 and reinstall
IE7

It's out of Beta now. I am running fine on XPPro w
service pack 3 can't speak to Vista 64 though.

ksoy:

Try opening up a revit file directly (double-click on it), and bypass that opening screen.

I'll bet it will open and revit will run fine.

Go ahead and uninstall IE8. Fixed it for me.

Thanks, it worked for me, too. Strange thing, though. By the way, we uninstalled IE8 from another similar workstation and it worked too - Revit runs flawlessly again. I complained about this mess to Microsoft but I doubt if it's going to help in any way 😕

Vista 64, Revit MEP 64: Same here, could open file from toolbar, IE8 appears to only mess up initial screen.

I uninstalled IE8 anyway....
