Unwanted transparentcy

Revit 2020. Working for months on a building drawing, suddenly all floors are transparent when viewed from one level.

View discipline is architectural. View cut plane normal above, bottom view slightly below (anything goes)

No view template in use, no graphic override, no filters, no transparency settings, parts visibility (anything goes), no underlay. Graphic display wireframe, hidden, shade etc. all the same.

Everything turns back to normal when viewing the floors from another level above, then I can switch between wireframe and hidden as usual.

I have added a dummy foreground pattern on the floor that goes transparent.
View I is transparent, although view setting is hidden.
View II seen through another level higher up, but same bottom view setting just below the floor, also hidden,

CAD files with very large extents can have this effect on views. Usually it is elevations or section views but I see no reason why it couldn't also affect plan views. Turn off the visibility of CAD files in the view and see if the problem goes away. If you must see the CAD file, then you need to fix the extents of the file so it doesn't violate Revit's threshold for extents.

It could be likely be the case, I do have a large CAD file attached, with many 3D objects, and numerical data out of range, (I am still struggling to find the objects in the CAD file).
Unloading the CAD file, saved the project file with file compression, close and re-open did not help.
I then deleted all views related to the transparent level, reinstalled the Plan View for the level, and the problem went away.

Cleaning up a CAD file for linking can be tedious. I usually start here:

• Turn on/Thaw all layers
• Use Wblock to write a new file with just the pertinent CAD elements selected

I've encountered blocks that trigger the extents warning, numerical warning and proxygraphics. I've even run into splines and 3D polylines that caused it. Often using Explode has permitted me to create a version of the file I could use without generate warnings.

Whatever steps you take will need to be repeated the next time they send you a new version. Ideally you identify something specific and work with them to find a way to prevent it from reoccurring.
