It eventually works. I just kept clicking on different parts of the lock and it worked after many tries. Anyway, definitely needs fixing!

If you haven't figured out the solution to this yet... get to the screen where you can access the padlocks, then zoom in, like way in, like retarded way in... then you can unlock the padlock by clicking on it (after hovering for a moment).  If it doesn't work, keep on zooming.  This is almost as much fun as editing Revit text.

I hope you don't mind if I pick up where this left off...

I'm trying to use the 'modify vertical structure' tool to adjust some wall layers around a complex area. I'd like to be able to adjust multiple sets of unlocked layers at both the top and bottom to different heights. I've shown it roughly in the attached.

From what I can tell reading online and in this post, I think you can only have one set unlocked on the top and bottom? Is that right? Is there any way to achieve what I'm try to without a whole bunch of reveals? It seems like this would be good to be able to adjust each layer independently!

Are all those layers in a compound-layer Wall Type?  If so, you cannot get that "stepped offset" configuration through Base/Top Extension.  You could, however, do that by creating Parts from the Wall -  and then selecting each layer, activating Shape Handles, and dragging the base of the layers up.

Wow, thanks for the fast reply!

I tried the parts/shape handle thing and it seems to work. I've always wondered what "create parts" did!

Thanks 🙂

Hi Again...so the parts approach seemed to work. Things looked good on Friday but I came back to the model today and some of the layers have been reset. Others are still in their position. The shape handles are gone and I can't seem to select the parts anymore (to turn on shape handles). Also the 'create parts' button is grayed out! Any ideas what may have happened?!

Thanks!
