Unable to Rename Level

A building has added two floors, so I have moved level 05 up and changed it to "level 07"; however, now that I add a new level at Level 05, it will not let me name it "Level 05" saying that it already exists, even though I've already renamed the previous Level 05. Curiously, I can rename "Level 07" back to "Level 05" but something in the model is not actually updating the level name.

Does anyone have any solutions to this bug?

What version of Revit are you using? I remember Revit used to do that in Revit 2018, but not anymore in recent versions.

I was able to fix this by using the "select item by ID" in the manage tab. I then changed the view name from Level 05, and it allowed me to rename. Very odd, but somehow this must have been tied to this particular view name.

The same issue in Revit 2024. I tried to rename a level from G1 02 to GX 02, but a view with this name already exists. A view can be named as a level but a level can't be named as a view. Have no idea why they did it. Useless. Please remove this warning if you are reading this.

The vast majority of us cannot help with that.

BTW, there is a logic that this cannot happen and it is possible to get what what you want.

When you rename a level, Revit usually asks if you want to rename the associated views.

Since two views with the same name cannot exist, if a view named "GX 02" already exists, it will give you an error, not because you cannot rename the level, but because you cannot duplicate view names.

When it asks, tell it not to rename the associated views, or change the existing one before renaming the level.
