Trigonometric Parameter Shutting down Revit?

Hello All

I created a family for Tapered Insulation.  The way it works Is that you Determine the slope (or pitch) and then you drag it out. It is a Line Based Detail Component. If I copy an instance from another project or within a project I can manipulate it just fine. But most of the time when I try to place it as a new component it causes a "Fatal Error" and shuts down Revit.

the Family was designed in revit 2021 I'm Attaching it here
I'd Appreciate any input as to what is wrong with it.

Not crashing here...however, I am using 2022 ... no 2021

Remark:

  1. It is a line based ie: given angle and the base length you calculate Height.
  2. You do not need to calculate H...this may cause errors due to specific output at certain instance. It would be lighter on the processing if you unassociated that one and remove the formula (it is not serving the family parametrics in anything)

It sure works better now It still triggered a crash if I didn't rest a moment between instances but not every time
The H parameter was controlling the line skeleton which wasn't actually needed, I guess. I just needed to hook 'Height' onto the sketch itself.

Thanks.

Well there is more to fix in it if you want to do it over...this should not crash

  • Deleted the ref line you had to the Right end
  • Locked the Thickness Parameter
  • Changed the center ref - plane to a reference Center front/back (it was too weak to drive the Height and thickness)
  • Recreated the Filled region and locked all to ref planes (the slope doesn't need locking because it locks automatically to the ends of the adjacent)
  • Deleted the old line work (No need for it the region has its own - unless you intend to give the extra border a different LW option)

Thanks. I've been using revit full time for 2 years and I still have a lot to learn
