Template corrupted with graphic issues

Hello,

I have created a template for Revit and few of the user are finding graphic issues with it.

I created for Revit 2017 but we mainly use Revit 2018 now.

We have create a model, place sun and everything else, and looks ok in the 3D view.

Capture.PNG

But then, when we create a 3d perspective view with the camera tool, shadows create a very weird shapes. You can see that the roof eaves produces a curve shadows or weird things.

Capture 2.PNG

In other case, using the same template in Revit 2017

We have created a detail using regions, lines and other annotation, and copy it in our company template (right) and in a default revit template (left), look at the differences marked in red circles, how the lines and regions are distorted.

Capture 3.PNG

My graphic card is a Radeon RX 470, and my pc is less than a year old, so it shouldn't be a problem and more when in one template works ok and not in the other.

I never had that problem before, so any suggestion about the possible reason?

Regards

HI David,

Thank you for taking your time to post this on the forum,

Could you share the template with me? There could be a couple of things wrong with it, could you possibly tell me what the coordinates are in the project?

If you can share it I wouldn't mind taking a look at it and see what I can find,

Thanks again,

As an extra information, I have just found out that the file crash every time I try to open the site settings.

Capture.PNG

Also, In the perspective view I showed before where the shadows are wrong, If I turn off the planting category, the problem disappear.

So I assume the issues are with the massing/terrain/topo/planting.....

How far is your model from the origin?

It is nearly finish, but the worst is that I can't find the problem and every new project is started in this template, so all will have the same issues

@AnonymousHello, I did a trial test just to confirm the issue. So what I did I copy the whole building from your file and pasted it into a new drawing and make a camera view and looks fine with the shadow on, it seems to me there is no issue with the program (or bugs). I think the issue is within your file?. Thanks

Note: in your own file can you change the detail level to FINE in your camera view and see if helps.

thanks

Hello @ennujozlagam,

I have found the all the graphic issues with the shadows disappear as soon as the planting category is off (As you can see compering the 3D view with and without plants). So checking it, I found that deleting the family "RPC Tree - Deciduous", those shadows problems are solved.

But I am sure that is not the real cause of the problem, because I placed these "RPC Tree - Deciduous" corrupted family in other project, and I don't have any shadows issues.

Also, I have other file, without these "RPC Tree - Deciduous" corrupted family, and completely purge, and I have other graphic issues doing hatchs for a details (In the image below, in the left is how it should be, and how it was drawn, and in the right image is how it is shown)

Capture 3.PNG

All of those files with issues have been started with our company template, so something might be wrong on it, but I can see what it is the cause.

And yes, I tried to change all the details view to Fine, and i see that rendering the shadows are ok, but the other problem with the hatch remain, so the cause is still there

In order to see if the problem is related to the origin point of the revil file, I have create a new tread

After a lot of researching and testing I found out that the issues where related with the model and the origin point.

Although my survey and project base point where close to the model, I didn't realize that the model was miles away from the internal origin point of the revit file.

See the solution here

That's exactly what @ToanDN was alluding to when he asked you: "How far is your model from the origin?"
