Split segment not working

Trying to use the split segment tool to adjust my elevation. I get the exacto knife cursor but it won't do anything when I click on the elevation line. Any idea why?

Are you cutting through the elevation line that goes through the bubble?

Hi @Anonymous

Can you check if your view is pinned? This may disable the tool.

No, it isn't pinned. Good idea to check, though.

I'm not sure what bubble you're talking about. I don't have a bubble. I'm using 2016.

Can you share a more generous screenshot, showing the elevation, view, and possibly the view's properties?

@Anonymous 2016 also has elevation bubbles. When you start, you will see them in the plan view.

Hi

Split the Elevation View in " PLAN VIEW "

You cannot split the Elevation view in the Elevation itself..

go to plan, select view ( Ex View:Elevation:North) , select " Split Segment "

this should work..

Cheers!

( If this doesn't work for the project, then just check in new project from the scratch and see how it works... )

1. If the view is a Call out, then probably Revit wont allow to split it.. Please check that..

2. the snapshot attached in the main question...

its shows " Size crop " and  " Split segment " active.. ( not greyed out )

If " Split Segment " command is selected (active ), it should greyed out .

@barthbradley Overall am just giving my best guess.. 🙂

if the view is a dependant view, you can't split the (dependant ) view. Revit goes through the motions, but changes nothing. You have the split the "parent" view.

Hi

I think I Cracked the solution this time...

The Extents of elevation should be inside ( within ) the Crop Region.

Otherwise Revit doesn't allow to split...

( Now this is not the standard setting in Revit, different versions of Revit behaving differently )

Am pretty sure you are facing this situation..

Let us know

Cheers!

Depth clipping needs to be set to "No Clip".
