Special Design Spiral Staircase

Hi,

I wanted to create a spiral staircase with special riser profile, as below.

But I not sure how to do.

I hoping not to use sweep as this stair is going for 3-4 floors and the riser height varies for each floor.

Does anyone have any idea on this?

Create a new family using the Profile.rft file.

Go to Categories and specify profile use as Stair Riser

Create the profile linework (closed loop sketch)

Import into Revit project

Create Stair

In Stair properties, change the default Riser profile to the one you loaded

As for the 1" finish, just change the tread properties

It looks as if you are almost there - you just need to adjust the position of the profile in the profile family.

Please, let us know if you managed to correct it, or if you still need further help.

I've tried all the possibilities inclusive rotating the profile but it still doesn't work.

I not sure what's going on for the stair profile.

In the Profile family - the intersection of the reference planes is the insertion point of the profile. Move the profile so that the insertion point is correct. Reload it into the project. It will update and correct the stair.

This is what we tried to achieve by using sketch up.

I really wish to understand how the riser works as I am still very new to revit.

I've tried to turn around the profile in the family but I still couldn't get what I want to achieve.

This is best done using an in place model, or a combination of a spiral stair for the top treads and in place model for the bottom parts.

Another thought, create a baluster family with the shape of the bottom part and use it in a railing on the spiral stair, one per tread.

How about modeling one stair element (using the profile) as an adaptive component and repeating it along a divided 3D path?

Here a couple of useful links for that: 

To draw the 3D path you can use the Mass Creator of Revit (App menu or File menu in Revit 2018 > New > Conceptual Mass), similar to how it is shown in this video:
