Hi.
Could anyone tell me how to build correctly cone roof so that it appears in Heating and Cooling Loads -> Details -> Analytical Surfaces?
Here is my model:
When I do the same with rectangular model, everything is ok and I can see the roof:
I attach both .rvt files.

It's my observation that the roof plane needs to be a uniform slope. I find can create a conical roof, using a 36 segment polygon, and get a valid analytical surface and result. I suppose you could use a thin veneer of a roof (36 sided polygon) to get the underside to allow the calculation and then cover it with the real roof?

Hello
Using Massing to Create Conical Roof.
Here are the steps to follow..
1.Load Family Mass ( Cone )
2.go to "Mass and Site" and " Place Mass " , and place Cone
3. Use Roof by mass and select the sides of cone..
Cheers!
When I compared your technique it was interesting that the values matched those of the 36 sided polygon roof I made. So the mass interpretation produces the same kind of surface for analysis but allows for the smooth roof surface.

Hi Ganesh. Thank you for the answer. But I think I'm doing something wrong.
I created the mass cone:
Then I created the roof on this cone:
Now I have roof but it's wrong. It looks like a ceiling and one half of it outputs like a roof and the other half outputs like a ceiling (but there is no ceiling at all). Therefore I don't get all the roof area for the Heating and Cooling Loads:
Can you tell me what I'm doing wrong?
I attach my new .rvt file.
Hi Steve. Thank you for the answer. Can you please give me a simple example .rvt file with a such roof (I use Revit 2017)?

I've attached an example of both the segmented polygon roof and roof by face applied to a mass. The roof by face/mass approach didn't calculate correctly at a pitch of 4:12. It worked when l I made the pitch 5/12. I'm not sure why.

Wow. That's exactly what I need:
Can you please explain me the step by step process of creation correct roof with face/mass approach (with screenshots)? I tried to create correct roof using your cone family but I have this result:
Thank you. I'm finally able to create correct cone roof for Heating and Cooling Loads.
