Shadows not showing up when floor is drawn in

I've been struggling to figure out why my shadows are only showing up outside the walls of this house, and I think I've narrowed it down to the floor. When I add a floor, the shadows cast by the interior walls are no longer visible. I'm a bit of a beginner at Revit, so I'm not sure what to try.

1. Floor is drawn at Level 2

2. Walls are drawn at Level 2

3. Shadows are set to be cast at Level 2

4. This happens on the floor plan view and the 3D view

I've attached images of flooring drawn, and one with it removed. It's also worth noting, we're working with Design Options in this project, though that doesn't seem to be affecting it, and I'm working in Revit 2021

@emilycross: change your Phase Filter to SHOW COMPLETE.

What's wrong with what? I explained my issue in the original post.

Well, sometimes the explanation needs clarification.

Did changing the Phase Filter to "Show Complete" resolve the "issue" you were splaning?

I've looked at the file and shadow works when I placed a floor underneath. However I do notice some objects may project weird shadow like the door frame. It could be a shadow glitch which Autodesk may need to look at.

Those shadows are coming from a masking region in Plan View of the Family

Masking Region removed and replaced with Symbolic Lines in Door Family.

@syman2000

I hope this doesn't sound stupid, but how did you insert the floor when you added it? I'd like to try the same way you did.

I am using level 2 from your file. Draw a huge rectangle floor covering the entire building. When I project shadow on it, it works fine.

I don't have any problem with Floor and Shadows either - just those silly shadows being cast by the Masking Regions in the Families. Maybe it's an issue with your Appearance Image. I don't have it to test. Can you post it?

Sorry. No effect.  It was a long-shot anyways.  If it had worked, I would have thought "WTF!"

@emilycross: have you tried any other hardwood floor Asset fromRevit's  extensive OOTB collection?

Every floor I've tried has given me the same problem. I guess we just have to go with photoshop!

Works here.  Turn off hardware acceleration see if it's a hardware related issue.

This is bizarre. When I duplicate the Level 2, the shadow offset. When I exit the view and go back to the same view, the shadow fix itself. Mystery deepens.

Emily, I can't replicate the issue in Revit. Can I ask you to check that you have Revit updated to 2021.1 if you haven't already. It might not fix the issue but it's always a good idea to keep things patched to the latest version.

Insert witty comment here.
