Ribbon blinking in Revit 2017, 2018 and 2019 - Windows 10

This ribbon blinking happens if I let Revit sit for an hour or so. If I work continuously in Revit this does not happen. Does this in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Hardware acceleration on or off does not affect this blinking. The video card is GeForce GTX 1080 running latest driver. I've tried older drivers and it also does not change this behavior. Revit is the only program this occurs in. I have re-installed Windows 10 to no avail.

Sorry to hear that you are facing issues.

• Does this issue begin to occur after a specific windows update or with a specific model/ user configuration?
• Are you using Revit on a high-resolution monitor (3K or 4K)?

Some points to try:

• Try to reset the Autodesk Revit ribbon, toolbar, and browser to default settings
• Lower the desktop scaling to 150% or below by going to Control Panel > Display.

I think it happened after the last Feature update but I couldn't roll that back. When I reinstalled the OS it updated to the latest Feature update and would not let me roll it back. I do not have a high-res monitor or change the desktop scaling. I have reset the UIState and will let it sit while I'm at lunch

It was blinking when I came back from lunch. BTW, what happened to my screencast of the blinking?

Let me know your graphics card configuration. Could be that the graphics card is not supported or you'll have to roll back your driver.

I recall an Revit implementation company coming up with new features to remind people to save their model...

Are you by chance working with another company that is providing add-ins for yours?

By blinking the ribbon at you? That's hilarious! No, we are not doing that...

One of the other options in that add-in was the ribbon changes to red if you are working in the Central model.  So that is why I thought the blinking might be a feature of that add-in too.

Thanks for sharing your journal, while I'm parsing it -

Can you disable the P&ID modeler and try launching Revit again and see if this helps?

Also, can you check if HA is on

1. Go to the Revit Menu/ Options/ Graphics and make sure that the Hardware Acceleration is on

Never heard of the P&ID modeler, and I said previously HA on or off doesn't affect this

Your journal file indicates the P&ID modeler.

Can you test the below for me?

Please try disabling the add-ins and let me know if there is an improvement in performance.

If you want to test Revit with all add-ins disabled [or selectively disable add-ins] follow the steps below: 
1.  Close Revit. 
2.  Locate the following folder: 
    C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\[Version] 
3.  Temporarily move the add-in files from the folder above to another location. 
4.  Launch Revit; add-ins will be disabled. 

Alternate locations that add-ins could be loaded from: 
C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins          (This location can be used for add-ins that span multiple products/versions.) 
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Revit [Version]\AddIns   (This location is generally used for Internal Add-ins, but some older add-ins may still try to load into this location.)

I found the P&ID Modeler addin in the internal folder and moved it. Came back from a more than 1 hour lunch and no blinking! How did you know about it? Has there been problems with this addin? And why only my machine?

Yes, some 3rd party add-ins have caused performance issues.

Not sure why it happens in your specific machine, but if you need me to test further, please send me an NFO file and I can share a collector utility with you to extract files for diagnosis. (share through a private link)
