Move Ribbon panel to Ribbon tab

Is it possible/difficult to move panels/buttons from one Ribbon location to another?  IE, my Add-Ins ribbon is getting populated pretty heavily.  I would like to move some of the panels to other ribbons or even create new ribbons to move them to.  I haven't seen much documentation on how to move add-ins, just how to turn on/off the system ribbons.

I attempted the good ole drag and drop method, but no joy.

Thanks.

Thanks barth.  I did find that topic, but it doesn’t address moving panels from one ribbon tab to another ribbon tab, only how to turn on/off some of the system tabs and how to rearrange panels on a tab.  I am trying to move panels to different tabs altogether.

Opening the file in Notepad++ doesn’t work, so direct editing is out.  Same for Excel, Word, XML Editor.  I scrounged around and ran across this post that seems to indicate that add-ins are only allowed to add panels to the Add-Ins tab.

However, I currently have installed additional add-ins that have their own dedicated tab, which indicates it is possible to create tabs and add content to them.  But it doesn’t look like that is an easy/simple procedure.

Thanks for sharing, @chughes. I got a little glassy-eyed when reading the API stuff though.  he,he.

Good luck to you. Keep us posted if you should find a laymen solution.  Smiley (zwinkernd)
