RFA File Location

Hi,

I have just downloaded an RFA file but cannot find the location to save it too where the other files are.  I know it should be under Libraries but I do not seem to have that file within the RVT2017 folder.  Having said that, my RVT 2017 folder is called Revit 2017, does that matter?  When I go into Revit2017 folder I get sub-folders as per the below

C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Revit 20172017-01-17_10-03-03.jpg

Revit families (rfa) can be stored anywhere. You normally store these files in a folder where you can easily find them back. In due time you will build up a catalog of downloaded and families created by yourself. You also might create sub-folders to organize the different families. This folder can be on a local harddrive or on a network storage (shared with other users).

If you store your families within the default Revit libraries you might forget which ones are the standard families and which are your own families. Upgrading Revit and/or uninstalling old Revit versions might cause loss of your families.

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

Libraries of families are by default in Program Data. This folder comes, as default, hidden. If you want to find it you need to make all folders visible in Windows. Then, the path for a .rfa is usually something such as: C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RVT 201x\Libraries\[name of the library]\[name of the category]

As @Alfredo_Medina said, the location is in ProgramData file which comes hidden by default. I want to add that instead of un-hiding all folders, you can type the following in the folder address bar C:\ProgramData\
