I want to use script or revpy or something to make it so when I type"CM" to call components, the components dropdown automatically drops down so i can start typing to search for components. Right now I have to drag my mouse ass all the way over from right screen to click the dropdown and I thought it would be way cooler if it just automatically drops down. Anyone have any clues, directions or tips? I don't know how to start my Revit programming/optimization journey. Thanks.

If you want to create an add-in then there is a special forum for this, the Revit API forum.

You also can have look at THIS Autodesk page My First Plugin to get familiar with programming the Revit API.

And maybe you do not even have to program anything. Many of the items can be undocked and then placed near where you are working.

I pinned the Type Selector to the middle of the Ribbon to cut the distance to half.
