Creating a dynamic revit detail cell

Former Autocad convert ...

I am trying to create a detail cell template that

1) will stretch incrementally both in length and height

2) and modify the scale of the detail cell so I can apply it to the different view scales

--- although I thought it might be cool to connect this object to the view scale and have it to automatically change scale like an annotated element ...

Also I'm looking to have a this detail cell to have a snap point so I can click and drag it on to the detail grid once I add the Drafting view to the sheet ... I had used referenced planes to establish the snap point ... but when put the detail cell a family ... the reference points are not seen in the drawing...

Just thinking out loud as I try to solve this task ...

Any input would be helpful

This is fairly simple. You need two elements:

1. A parametric generic annotation family sized to a cell module.  Load it in the drafting/detail view and you can change it to 1x1, 1x2, 2x2, etc... depends on needs.

2. A Reference plane draw from a corner of the cell.  You can snap an end of the reference plane to any linework on sheet, such as the detail grid corner.

So in reference to your number responses ...

1) by creating this detail cell to an Annotation Group ... it will automatically change scale when the view scale changes...

1b) I will assign a scale parameter or width and height parameter that will come control the incremental growth both in in height and in width ...

1c) previously I was using reference lines within the cell that created to columns (one for text and another for the graphics) as a guide for detail development ...

These were placed on reference planes ... will reference planes be visible or do I need to create a "no plot" line in its place ...

Also when/if I increase the height or width of the detail cell ... can I lock the width of the right column (text column) ... when the detail cell stretches to the left

1d) is it possible to anchor the lower right corner?

2) will the reference plane be visible when the annotation symbol of the detail box is brought in? See (1c above)

Thank you for your response ... I will construct this once I get to the office and post my results

1d: set the horizontal and the vertical reference planes at the corner to Define Origin.

1d: I believe you have to draw this reference plane directly on the detail view in order to snap it. Generic annotation families are not snap-able. But I could be wrong.

Toan,

Would you be able to clarify your response?

I am looking to create a detail component that resizes with the view scale the object is placed in.

Thank you,

Clarify what?  Have you tried to follow the steps?

Yes, everything is working properly.

The mistake I had made was using a prebuilt family that was not created as a generic annotation.

Thank you for the follow up.
