Revit In-Place Mass - showing up on all floor levels?

Hi all,

Im very new to this platform, though i have been using Revit for about 3 years, im rather stuck with this in-place mass issue. I have created the below panel system around my main model via the in-place mass which goes up and returns over the roof of the building.

But the returns that go over the roof level are showing up on all floor plans/levels as shown below!

I have searched the forums but i have not managed to locate anything related to this issue.

What am i doing wrong? Can anyone advise. Any help appreciated!

That is because you modelled it as furniture. Furniture is an example of a non-cuttable family meaning that it is always shown as a projection. Normally you don't show cuts in your furniture so it makes sense.

To change that behaviour, make it a generic model (which is always a safe bet if you don't know how it should work).

Sorry, ive just realised.  You are quite right Avaris. I havent used in-place mass at all! I used 'model in-place'.

What would be the best way to model this screen so that it cuts through at the various plan views

It is a very unique component, so your choice to model it in place was correct. You only have to change the category to generic model and you are good to go.

Just spent the entire day creating this and have just finished off the other side. Should've stopped when i realised something was wrong.

Apologies for the constant questions...

So am i able to select what i have modelled thus far, and just change the category? Or must i redo it?

You can just click the model in place > go into edit mode > change category.
